The SSI Coral ID Specialty is your chance to explore the incredible diversity of coral life that supports our entire reef ecosystem. You’ll begin with self-paced online learning designed to introduce you to coral structures, growth forms and the unique adaptations that allow these animals to thrive.

Once you arrive for the course, your instructor will guide you through a focused pre-dive briefing, giving you the tools to identify the corals you’ll encounter during your shore dive. As you explore the reef, you’ll start recognising patterns, spotting subtle differences between species and gaining a deeper appreciation for the intricate world beneath the surface.

After the dive, unwind with a complimentary BBQ and chat with your instructor and fellow divers about the coral species you discovered. By the end of the day, you’ll walk away not only with your SSI Ecology Specialty certification, but also with a new understanding of the vibrant reef community in your own backyard.
